The choice of the screen depends upon the speed at which the machine is operated. Generally a large aperture is chosen than the size of particle ultimately required. In experimenting with the machine it is essential to start off with a much larger screen than seems advisable and to work downwards in size of aperture. Blocking of the screen may indicate too small an aperture or too rapid feeding.
